Meet AC Stokes
AC has been a trained mediator for over 20 years, first completing 40 hours of social justice mediation training in 2003. As a member of the Oberlin College Dialogue Center at Oberlin College, AC logged over 100 hours of mediation experience.
AC holds a Master of Arts in Communication from Purdue University where they studied rhetoric and narrative in media.
In 2025, AC Stokes completed a 40 hours of additional mediation training in order to be a registered domestic relations mediator in the State of Indiana.
AC is committed to their work as a professional communicator and enjoys opportunities continue development as a mediator.
When not seeking new challenges as a professional communicator, AC enjoys dating reality television shows, gardening and household projects. They have lived in Indianapolis for over 10 years and shares a home on the east side with their spouse and cat.
AC’s Why
I came to the field of mediation at 18 years old. I was drawn to it by an inclination toward problem solving, a family role of peacekeeper, and an opportunity to support community.
My mediation mentor was Yeworkwha Belachew, known to all who loved her as “YB.” As the ombudsperson at Oberlin College from 200-2015, YB recognized the mediator in me. She cultivated my skills as an empathizer, questioner, and communicator above all else.
I do this work because of her and the other ancestors who shelter our spirit and light our path.
